Welcome to Insights!

Hello, my name is David Grenier. I am the Principal Consultant at C-Risk. I won’t bore you with the details of my professional biography here since it is noted in other places on the C-Risk website and LinkedIn profile to read all about my construction risk management background and experience. The only journal entry I will make here is that I established C-Risk in 1999 to help project owners manage risks and relaunched C-Risk in 2016 to continue my mission to provide independent, objective, and unbiased risk management consulting and advisory services.

Insights is the C-Risk blog I launched on the C-Risk website to provide an educational resource to project owners who are interested in learning about risk management strategies and insights to more effectively manage construction project risk. Insights is where you will find the latest & greatest information on risk management focused on the construction industry. You will be enlightened by articles about construction, insurance, wrap-up programs, risk-transfer and risk financing.

The idea for Insights is simple. Provide informative content on construction risk issues to enlighten readers on risk management strategies and best practices. This will be a knowledge-transfer process from my lessons learned on projects for a reader’s benefit.

If you are looking for best practices and want to gain some valuable insights on how to structure, implement, and manage your organization’s insurance & risk management programs, or wrap-up insurance programs, then look no further! Insights will help you. Bonus! This pro-bono value-added info is free!

I’m an insurance & risk management geek with extensive construction experience on large capital construction projects. I’ve always been captivated with construction risks. However, I’m more interested in formulating risk-transfer strategies to produce effective risk management solutions. One of my goals in writing articles about a relatively dry subject like risk management will be to make my posts a bit more interesting to read than a computer user’s manual.

I’ll describe strategies that are relevant and practical, along with how to be successful in implementing some of these strategies to help you more effectively address the challenge of managing risk on your construction projects. I’m sure other ideas or topics will emerge along the way and hope you will find them relevant when I share them with you.

The Ground Rules:

Just so you know the ground rules for C-Risk Insights and for articles that are posted on this blog, I want to be perfectly clear that you will be exposed to my views and perspectives gained from my practical experiences and lessons learned on various construction projects. You are more than welcome to respond, add comments, and suggestions. Even disagree if compelled to do so. I only ask that you keep comments relevant to the topic being discussed so we can maintain respect for others who provide comments and add value and depth to the topic under discussion within each post.

I will moderate comments and will quickly remove any comments that are offensive, disrespectful, or irrelevant. That means if you simply post comments that are off-topic, publish advertisements for your services or website [i.e. considered to be SPAM], or post any other irrelevant information unrelated to the topic, your comments will be deleted. However, if you want to add to a discussion with thoughtful commentary and engage to provide your perspective for other readers, I truly welcome this value-added exchange.

Also, please don’t post any private information in your comments since this blog is on a public site. Please read the C-Risk Privacy Policy and Terms of Use pages for additional information. Other readers may repost your comments so please be cognizant of this.

Expectations & Revelations

I’m sure you realize the importance of time management. There are only so many hours in the course of a day, week, etc. Providing risk management consulting is my primary focus at C-Risk, and to meet or exceed our client’s expectations. Posting articles in the C-Risk Insights blog is, and will be, an intermittent activity that will offer a supplemental educational resource on the C-Risk website. Therefore, it may take me a while to respond to comments. Please be patient. As you know, Rome wasn’t built in a day!

I encourage you to visit other areas of the C-Risk website to learn more about us, about who we are, what we do, where we add value for our clients. And, do feel free to contact us for more information. If you haven’t already done so, please consider subscribing to our mailing list. I will look forward to engaging with you in discussions on risk management, wrap-up insurance, and other topics that I believe will captivate your interest and increase your own insight.

My first posts on C-RISK Insights are a series of articles on owner controlled insurance programs (OCIP), aka, wrap-up insurance programs. You will find this series of posts in OCIP 2.0 – Building A Better Wrap-Up, Part 1 through Part 14, informative, educational, and insightful.

Thank you for visiting and reading C-Risk Insights.

Until next time…
